Harrisonburg is celebrating Pollinator month by providing information and community events educating citizens on how important it is to protect the species that pollinate our Earth. These species include bees, butterflies, moths, birds, as well as bats.
In 2019, Harrisonburg Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments planted pollinator spaces that are creating something called a pollinator corridor through Harrisonburg.
A pollinator corridor is a pathway of gardens and meadows that are planted with flowers and grasses that appeal to the pollinator species mentioned above.
Throughout the month of June, Harrisonburg will have events dedicated to the celebration of national pollinator month including walking tours, a pollinator booth at the farmers market, and many more.
More information about these events can be found on the calendar.
