Staunton officially opened its new Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court on Thursday (December 18), marking the completion of a long-planned project aimed at better serving families and children in the community.

City leaders celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public open house, inviting residents to tour the modern facility for the first time. The courthouse, now located in Staunton’s west end, replaces the city’s former downtown location.

Despite rainy weather, Michele Edwards called the opening a meaningful milestone for the city. She said seeing residents walk through the completed space underscored the importance of the project and its impact on those who will rely on the court’s services.

Edwards also expressed gratitude to the Staunton community for its support, emphasizing that the new building represents an investment in families, children, and the justice system that serves them.
