Posh Fairy Floss: Downtown Harrisonburg's Cotton Candy Haven

Posh Fairy Floss, a cotton candy and sorbet shop, has brought a touch of sweetness to downtown Harrisonburg. Originally started in 2019 from owner Monica Heffner’s home, the business moved to a storefront at 50 South Mason Street in July to accommodate its growing popularity.

“We wanted to be more accessible to customers,” said store manager Camelle Slade. The shop gained a strong fan base by selling at local festivals, which remains a key source of sales alongside their new storefront.

Posh Fairy Floss offers over 50 cotton candy flavors, with classics like blue raspberry and birthday cake being customer favorites. Seasonal options, such as cranberry, are especially popular during the holidays. “Cranberry is my all-time favorite,” Heffner shared.

In addition to cotton candy, the store sells dairy-free sorbet and oat milk ice cream, catering to common food allergies and sensitivities. Heffner, who has a tree nut allergy and avoids dairy, prioritized making the shop’s offerings safe for all.
