Hunter Hayes mourned the loss of his dog, Ella, in a heartfelt tribute he posted on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (December 4). The singer-songwriter remembered Ella as a “therapist, guardian, athlete, (and) angel.”
Hayes remembered Ella and credited her for teaching him valuable lessons in life, similar to the way Hayes’ late dog, Cole, did. Cole was a retired racing greyhound who “finished his final lap around the sun” earlier this year. Ella has “always been an angel, (and) now she’s got her wings and will go with me everywhere,” Hayes said. “Ella, we miss you and we love you.” Read his full tribute here:
“Ella
“Therapist, Guardian, Athlete, Angel.
“Some dogs love adventure, Ella WAS the adventure. She loved to travel/also hated cars. Loved music/hated random noises. Loved to sit with her favorite humans(she had many)/also strongly hated sitting still.
“She taught me how to be a better grown-up and how to be a kid again. Much like Cole did, She taught me how healing nature could be and how to get out and do more. She also taught me how to be present and when to take breaks from working. She could read your energy and knew how to meet you where you were. She loved big, moved fast and communicated clearly. She also always did things her way. Tough, fearless and persistent, nothing can keep up with Ella.
“She’s always been an angel, now she’s got her wings and will go with me everywhere.
“We don’t get to choose how long we have the ones we love, we do get to choose how we love the ones we have - She taught me that too. I am deeply grateful for every minute I had with her on this earth.
“Ella, we miss you and we love you.”
