Armed robbery at Weyers Cave bank

From the Augusta County Sheriff's FB Page: On Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 4:51 pm, the Augusta County Emergency Communications Center received a bank hold-up alarm at the United Bank, which is located at 54 Franklin Street Suite 102 in Weyers Cave, Virginia. Units from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and while deputies were en route, it was confirmed that the bank had been robbed. Deputies and Shenandoah Valley Airport Police Officers arrived on the scene at the bank at 1659 HRS and secured the scene and began to attempt to locate the suspect.

Investigators discovered that at 1648 HRS, a white male suspect, entered the United Bank displaying a snub-nose revolver demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of currency, the male suspect exited the bank and fled at 1649 HRS. None of the three bank employees on duty were harmed during the robbery. It is believed that the male fled on foot west, where he likely entered a vehicle.

The male suspect is described as:

White Male

20-30 years old

5’00” to 5’06”

Medium build

Wearing sunglasses, a silver facemask, a blue shirt, and a silver hoodie-style jacket.

In addition to Augusta County Deputies, the Virginia State Police, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, and Shenandoah Valley Airport Police assisted in the response to this incident.
