A Harrisonburg man has been arrested after police responding to a disorderly conduct call uncovered evidence of the rape of a child under 13.
According to the Harrisonburg Police Department, officers were called to a home on Devon Lane around 9 p.m. Monday (January 2). While investigating the disturbance, officers learned information indicating that a recent sexual assault involving a juvenile had taken place.
The case was immediately transferred to the department’s Major Crimes Unit. Detectives conducted interviews and gathered evidence, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Yefesi Bahinduka of Harrisonburg. He has been charged with rape involving sexual intercourse with a child younger than 13.
Bahinduka is being held without bond at the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail. He is scheduled to appear for a status hearing on March 13 in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court.
