Carly Pearce shared a video of the moment she called her mom to tell her that she’d won a Grammy Award, and it was too sweet.

Pearce and Ashley McBryde made history when they took home the award for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their smash-hit heartbreak ballad, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.” The emotional duet was one of many fan-favorites on Pearce’s 15-track album, 29: Written in Stone, which released in September 2021. It was the first time that two women have been winners in the category.

Pearce said she was “still speechless” on Monday (February 6), one day after the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, as she shared a clip of the call she shared with her mom on TikTok.

“Hi! Are you watching stuff? Did you know I just won?” Pearce said on the call, as her mom can be heard excitedly congratulating her superstar daughter. “I just won! I just won!”

Pearce shares a close bond with her mom, who “helped to make every one of my dreams true,” the award-winning artist previously wrote in an Instagram caption, as she performed a sold-out show at the venue where she and her mom often attended as fans while she was growing up. It was “so special having her with me last night as I played the venue she always told me I would one day! 🥲♥️”

The 29: Written in Stone artist has reflected on other meaningful conversations with her mom, including when she wrote her latest radio single, “What He Didn’t Do.” Pearce previously shared that on the day she wrote the song, “I called my mom when I left the write to read her the lyrics. I knew it was special.”
